    Competences: Mr. Ferrari is currently Unit Manager within the Innovation and Consulting Division, having technical skills and competences in the field of process engineering with special reference to environmental and energy issues. In D'Appolonia, Mr. Ferrari has coordinated several projects and has acquired good management and coordination skills. Mr. Ferrari is generally actively involved in the management of EC-funded or industrial projects, whose objectives are the application of innovative technologies in traditional sectors. Moreover, he has developed technical experience in the assessment of potential application of technologies originally developed in high tech sectors to other more traditional industrial sectors.

    Ms. Francesca Marchi

    Competences: Ms. Marchi graduated in Construction Engineer in 2012. She gained expertise on energy efficiency technologies applied on buildings to improve their energy performancies as well as reduce their consumptions.

    Politecnico di Milano provides education, research and innovation in the fields of engineering, architecture and industrial design. Founded in 1863 as technical institute, Polimi now ranks as the 1st technical university in Italy (QS World University Rankings, 2010). In particular, research work in EEASE will be carried out by: Department of Building and Environment Science and Technology (BEST) and Department of Structural Engineering (DIS). BEST conducts multidisciplinary R&D activities involving expertise on technical, economic and environmental aspects of buildings and the built environment in its widest extension, addressing Sustainable Construction Technologies, Energy Efficiency of District and Buildings, Mitigation of Urban Heat Islands, Multi-purpose Data Management, Surveying, Monitoring and 3DMapping.     Mr. Marco Di Prisco

    Competences:  Full Professor at Politecnico di Milano (DICA Department) in the field of new materials like high performance and fiber reinforced materials and structure innovation to improve sustainability; in particular, the research work is concentrated on precast structures, thin-walled structures, soil-structure interaction and risk mitigation of structures subjected to exceptional loads like blast and fire. Besides teaching, he contributed to a number of researches, including both national and European projects on the topics of fiber reinforced materials, tunnel safety, seismic retrofitting of r/c structures. Research activity is always supported by experimental work, structural analysis, design and monitoring of full-size structures.

    Role in EASEE:  Coordination of Workpackage 2 activities; design, modelling and experimental activity of outdoor insulation solutions.

    Mr. Gabriele Masera

    Competences: Associate Professor at Politecnico di Milano (ABC Department) in the field of technological innovation for sustainability and energy-efficient buildings; in particular, the research work is concentrated on construction technologies for both new construction and refurbishment works. Besides teaching, he contributed to a number of researches, including both national and European projects on the topics of Phase Change Materials, the definition of sustainable building innovations in 2030 and energy retrofitting of residential buildings. Research activity is also supported by experimental work on the design of actual buildings.

    Mr. Amr Alaaeldin Elesawy

    Mr. Amr Alaaeldin Elesawy

    Competences: PhD Candidate in Politecnico di Milano, in the Building Engineering program of the Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering (ABC). His research is related to Internal retrofitting of the building envelope, with a specific interest in its thermal inertia, and how it affects on the comfort of the users pre- and post-insulation. He holds an MSc in Landscape design and Environmental planning, earned in 2007 from the Scuola Superiore di Catania in Italy; as well as an MSc in Architectural Engineering in 2011 from Politecnico di Milano. Besides his academic background, Amr has worked in a number of International Architectural and Landscape design offices in Egypt, Portugal and Italy. He has recently become an associate Architect at Quinto Architecture and Interior Design office in 2011 (Based in Giza, Egypt).

    Role in EASEE: Researcher, mainly involved in Work Package 4 (WP4) activities; engineering and characterization of indoor insulation solutions. Main responsibility is the climate adaptation of the proposed solutions, i.e. Energy simulation and thermal comfort analysis pre- and post-insulation. This includes working with TRNSYS and Dartwin for calculating the energy consumption, thermal bridges impact, as well as the internal air, operative and surface temperatures, as indicators of the thermal comfort in the insulated spaces.

    Mrs. Alessandra Zanelli

    Ms. Alessandra Zanelli

    Competences: Architect, Ph. D. in Architectural and Environmental Technology, Associate Professor at Politecnico di Milano (ABC Department), teaching Building Technology and Lightweight Architecture. Her main research interests deal with the role of technological innovation both in architecture and industrial design. In particular, she has focused his attention on temporary buildings (tents, minimal units for emergency; mobile homes), adaptive systems (extensible, foldable, pivots building components) and the application of technical textiles and lightweight materials both in demountable buildings and innovative dwellings. She collaborated to different research projects, co-financed by Regional, National and International institutions. Since 2012 she has been leading the WP1: System design and modularity of the Collaborative Project - Security FP7-SEC-2011-1 named S(P)EEDKITS - Rapid deployable & packaging kits as seeds for self-recover. She coordinates the Multidisciplinary Research Cluster on Innovative Textiles, getting linked the different skills already available at POLIMI, with the aim to promote an integrated approach for designing with textile materials both in new buildings and in renovation.

    Role in EASEE: Supervisor of the textile-based inner solutions developed in the Workpackage 4.

    Mrs. Rosanna Galliano

    Ms. Rosanna Galliano

    Competences: PhD candidate in Building Engineering at Politecnico di Milano - ABC Department, she is interested in durability assessment in terms of Service Life Prediction and performance decay of building components, taking part also in CIB W080 group. The research activity is now focused on the analysis of hygrothermal properties of insulating and "superinsulating" materials for building envelope retrofitting, through characterization tests, accelerated ageing and numerical simulations (Heat and Moisture Transfer models).

    Role in EASEE: Co-operation in the characterization of indoor solutions in Workpackage 4, mainly in terms of hygrothermal aspects and long term performances evaluation. The activities will be mainly related to characterization tests for hygrothermal properties of the insulating materials for inner retrofitting, in EMPA, linked with numerical simulation for prediction of behavior over time (HMT analysis).

    Mr. Stefano Aliprandi

    Mr. Stefano Aliprandi

    Competences: Research fellow at Politecnico di Milano. His research is related to thermal comfort. In particular, he studies the thermal performances of insulation materials. He collaborated in two different research projects: "S(P)EEDKITS - Rapid deployable & packaging kits as seeds for self-recover", where he studied the best lightweight insulation systems applicable to tents for emergency, and the EASEE project, on which he's working currently.

    Role in EASEE: Research fellow, mainly involved in Work Package 4 (WP4) activities, engineering and characterization of indoors insulation solutions. His main responsibilities are design, lab scale prototyping and performances evaluation of textile-based retrofitting solution for the inner envelope.

    Mrs. Carol Monticelli

    Competences: Architect, Ph. D. in Architectural and Environmental Technology, Assistant Professor at Politecnico di Milano (ABC Department), teaching Building Technology and Life Cycle Design, her main interests are in eco-efficient design of buildings and environmental impact in construction, of materials and technologies at various stages of the building process, and focusing attention on the process of technological innovation applied to new materials as well as traditional materials. She is a member of the Association of Italian LCA Network, Working Group 18 Environmentally Compatible Structures and Structural materials (ECS) of the International Association for Shell and Spatial Structures (IASS) and the Working Group LCA TensiNet international network architecture for developing textile industry in Europe. She collaborated to different research projects, co-financed by Regional, National and International institutions, in particular to the Collaborative Project - Security FP7-SEC-2011-1 named S(P)EEDKITS - Rapid deployable & packaging kits as seeds for self-recover.

    Schwenk Group has 5 "daughter"-companies producing cement, mortars and other building materials. Schwenk Putzetechnik is the daughter company dealing with mortars and plasters. It is producing mortars and plasters for interior and exterior use (floors, walls, etc) based either in cement or in gypsum. Their products are high added value mortars, always sprayed by machine (they are not selling do-it-yourself mortars) and their clients are construction and engineering companies. They are produced annually around 700,000MT of mortars in 9 plants in Germany and in 2006 the turnover was 95 million. The raw materials silos are in the top, feeding by gravity the mixers in the middle and storing the final product in silos in the bottom or directly in silo trucks. The raw materials' silos are filled pneumatically through pipeline system from the bottom of the plant. The central R&D dept is located in Karlstadt. In the pilot applications site the mortars are tested.

    Stam is a private engineering company founded in 1997. The main mission of the company is to provide engineering services to industries. The Company performs all stages of the product design cycle, from conception through validation with CAD and FEA tools, to component and subsystem design and specification, down to the definition of tools, and production cycles. Stam has been deeply involved in compact actuation systems, automation and new product development. It has contributed to several applications, like aeronautical and automotive composite components manufacturing, sheet metal forming reconfigurable dies and innovative supports for textile production; a large part of these applications are focused on the generation of 3D reconfigurable surfaces. Stam is a SME member of E2BA, and it is also supplier of the European Space Agency since 1999 with the Technology Transfer Programme.
